But Why, God?
A Devotional Series
I think it’s easy to question God when things get really really dark in our lives.
We’ve all experienced the times where everything bad that can happen does and we feel like there is no way out. And what is the natural response to this kind of pain and suffering? To try and make sense of what is happening and ”fix” it ourselves.
Let me ask you...when you’ve tried to go it alone and solve your problems on your own, how did that work out for you? Probably not as expected. You see, we were never meant to solve anything “alone”. God didn’t make us this way. Instead He made us to walk hand in hand and live in union with Him. He never promised us anywhere in the Bible that life would be easy, in fact it’s mentioned many times how it will be the opposite.
But what does He say countless times? That He will be with us through it all.
When I lost my sister and then my dad over the last year and a half, I’ve reminded myself countless times how neither of them belonged to us. It was such a blessing to have spent the time we had with them here on Earth, but this was never meant to be their permanent home, and it’s not yours or mine either.
In our pain and grief it is difficult to remember we are not in control. I can run through so many different scenarios in my life where I saw no way out and yet God made a way that I never could have dreamed myself. If you don’t have a relationship with God, the kind where you have full faith that He has something planned for you that you never even thought possible, I encourage you to lean into Him and experience the joy nothing and no one else on Earth can give you.
