Make a Rhinestone Headband in 4 Easy Steps

A Simple DIY for Kids & Grown Ups

My youngest daughter goes through phases, as many do. First, she would only wear dresses to school. Then, she would have to have her hair in a low ponytail all day every day. Now, she is currently OBSESSED with headbands. She got an adorable little pink dress from a friend for her birthday, so I thought I would make a headband to match. With spring right around the corner, I went with a floral theme. Here are the simple steps to make your little girl (or yourself) a rhinestone headband too:

FOR THIS PROJECT YOU WILL NEED:

Ribbon

Gemstones or rhinestones

Hot glue gun

Scissors

STEP 1: CUT RIBBON

I always get my ribbon from Hobby Lobby. I chose a spring floral print and cut it 18" in length to allow extra to tie it.

STEP 2: SELECT RHINESTONES

I have a huge tote full of different colors of rhinestones. Some are purchased from Hobby Lobby, others I order from Panda Hall.

I chose a variety of colors that coordinated with the ribbon, but made sure the hardware color was the same...in this case I chose silver.

STEP 3: PLAN RHINESTONE LAYOUT

Next, I laid out the rhinestones. It's important to plan this before gluing, otherwise you may have to start over if you make a mistake. I tried to space out the colors, and I kept the layout symmetrical.

STEP 4: GLUE RHINESTONES

Finally, I glued the rhinestones to the ribbon with a hot glue gun. I first moved the rhinestones off of the ribbon, but kept the layout. I then started with the large center rhinestone and worked my way out from the center. You'll also want to make sure to remove any loose hot glue "strings" that may get left behind.

Super easy, right? If you make this long enough, this could also double as a cute rhinestone belt with a little dress! I'd love to hear your thoughts on how these projects go for you!
